Amazing Trip To Walgreens

Last night I went to Walgreens with all 4 kids to see if the Money-Making deal on Right Guard deodorant (mentioned HERE) was really true.  My husband loves this stuff, so it was worth a look.

Well, it is true, so I went back today for more.

Here’s how I got all in the picture for $3.59 + tax:

Transaction #1:

Buy 4 Right Guard Deodorants on clearance for $2.29 each (included in the buy 1 get 1 free sale)

Use 2 $2 off 2 Right Guard Deodorant coupons from coupons.com

Total: $.58 + tax, get a $4 Register Reward off next purchase Catalina

Transation #2, #3, #4, & #5: repeat Transation #1.

Transaction #6:

Buy 6 Coke 12 packs on sale 3 for $10 (Sprite & Coke Zero are included as well as other Coke products)

Use all 5 $4 off Register Rewards from above transactions

Total: $0 before tax, get $10 Register Reward off next purchase Catalina

Transaciton #7:

Buy 1 seed packet

Buy 1 Pampers Swadlers diapers (for a gift basket I’m making)

Use 1 in-ad coupon for seed packet

Use $1.50 off Swadlers diapers (from coupons.com)

Use 1 $10 Register Reward from previous transation

Total: $.69 + tax

**I find that if I just use the Register Rewards as soon as I get them I don’t forget to use them or wait for a sale.

Saving Money on a Treadmill

On January 2, 2012 I decided to give up eating any food that was not at mealtime. I knew that I had gained weight by eating snacks anytime something stressed me out. So, no more snacks for me. Desserts are okay as long as it is eaten right after the meal.

Well now that my double stroller has a flat tire I have been looking for a different way to exercise. I thought about joining a gym or buying a treadmill.

Then I remembered something that my mothere-in-law, Kathy had been doing.

She decided that she would start walking “laps” around her house. I decided to try it today and I like it!

I walked around the perimeter of every room & if I passed a room again I would “lap” it again. Today in just our upstairs I did 5 “laps” and it took about 15 minutes. Tomorrow I’ll try 6 “laps” and see how that feels.

I find that this is something that I can do during the kids’ nap time, I can do it if it’s too hot outside, I can do it if there is snow outside, I can do it anytime!

So, thank you, Kathy, for saving me money on a treadmill!

What Happens In A Town Full Of Couponers

Have you noticed lately that the stores are always running out of items that are free or money makers in our town?

I feel as though our town is full of couponers and I don’t think that it is a bad thing.

I am really glad that our community is learning the value of a dollar.

However, because I live in this town of couponers, I felt that it was necessary to stop teaching coupon classes at Community Hope Center for a while.

It was very difficult for me to do, but I have only been averaging 2-3 per class and I feel as though most who attend do not really want to learn about coupons.

It has been hard to find a babysitter for my 2 year old and still have time to pick up my 3 year old from pre-school by 10:50 after I teach a class.

I’m not sure where to go from here.

In 19 days I will be facing the one year anniversary of my Aunt Margie’s death.  She LOVED helping at the Community Hope Center.

She was a great crochet-er.  She would make afghans and other items to donate.

At the Community Hope Center, I have felt a great sense of community.

Several people from my church volunteer there.

I love helping others & I have felt a strong connection to Aunt Margie by serving there.

Now I wait for God to open other doors.
